Thanks for being brave enough to share though. RX7, RX8 are also RWD.
As is Toyota's MR2. That one'll really freak you out. Its engine is in the middle!

        Lol I wasn't born yesterday!! I just didn't think they'd bother putting a RWD in an MX5....

          *So it's often reported.

Hmm I was talking about the power though... From the looks of them, I've always though they wouldn't really have much power so I didn't think they'd bother with the RWD...

oh yea, sure they wouldnt have much. but they didn't have turbo special edition models that had a bit of juice.

i think RWD was more for the handling characteristics rather than becuase it had lots of power.

              edit:

top gear delievers: i believe this clip is appropriate.

I have to say, I've never driven one, but wouldnt mind giving one a go!

              • MX5's are extremely well balanced and stick like **** to a blanket. It would scare some of you to jump in the passenger seat of one with a good driver behind the wheel throwing it into some real corners....

                • Second that, my wifes boss had one of the original series clubman that was turbo. She liked it and I used to pay her out about it. Anyway being the nice husband I hired a stock standard manual NB series for a weekend as an anniversary present. By the first hour I was in love with the car.....it doesn't have much power on paper but it is lightweight and is like driving a really well setup gokart. After that we were hanging for one of the SE final series NBs, but decided that with family coming soon we should go something practical. If I didn't have to carry large things everynow and again, I'd have got one of the new NCs for work by now.

Most underrated car ever....that's not even mentioning that the top goes down! I noticed that VW have taken up the challenge of stealing some business with a new MX-5 copy...
