Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VIC LHD Audi A6 Avant on German plates, Prahran

Saw a black Audi avant with a roof pod, assuming it was an A6, on the corner of Chapel St and High St Prahran this afternoon.

On closer inspection it was a left hooker with German plates!

Why would such a car be in Australia? Wonder if anyone else has seen it about. I am assuming it is due to someone from either the German or US army being posted out here, at least that is the only possible reason that I can think of.

A few months ago i saw a saab on swedish plates at Ikea. go figure

Also when dad worked at Audi China the road side assist car (an Audi A6 avant) had german plates but was quickly switched over to Chinese plates. So its not an uncommon thing for car companies to do.
    HAI?!

we spotted this car a few weeks ago at phillip island!

pretty sure it was an A4 though.

The army reason is probably a decent guess, otherwise they might just be out there on holidays?? :S

had a couple kiddie seats in the back too..
