Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • TAS Mk6 GTD's and "R"s

Just around the corner from my workshop is about 30 demo GTD's being prepared for the national press launch. A couple of R's are there as well plus the usual GTI's. They turned up yesterday. The local dealer did not know anything about these cars beng here when I asled them late yesterday afternoon.
I was whisked off the property and was told that no photo's would be allowed.
The journo's are to take them up the east coast of Tassie and return down the west.
I may be able to jump my building's wall tonight and grab myself something!!!

Absolutely grab an R plus a GTD I am thinking... The GTD's look near identical to the R's.
Went past there at 5.30 and they had just finished packing all of these beautys into the building. Wasnt any room left there.
They had them parked all the way down the road yesterday but the local takeaways all got onto them this morning.
I will sneak some pics tomorrow morning. (of the opners I dont steal tonight)
Orders taken up till 11 pm tonight!!! LOL!!!

            Better check em out Tazzy,
I have a good customer who owns a franchise business with an R50. He won a yellow Pirelli in a national Pirelli competition. Lucky he has always been a VW fan.
Second day he had the Golf he dropped it in for the APR TBE, fuel pump, Carbonio and stage 2 reflash. He has fitted different wheels and semi slick tyres since.
That is the quickest Mk5 in Hobart, by far!! He likes to tell people that its quicker than mine too!! LOL!!

Got to check out a couple of R's and GTD's earlier at my local dealership when i dropped in. got a surprise to see what was sitting there. Have to say the R looks awesome from the front that front bumper is just angry. the GTD didnt impress me much at all, looked a bit plain and the wheels i dont think did anything for it.

R with the 18s are a bit of a letdown, beside a GTI with the Detroit's the GTI defo catches the eye a lot more. But the 19's along with black mirrors really look angry, and the subtle differences with the black headlight inserts along with the 19s give it a very different look front on.

Black calipers also a bit less eyecatching the the old blue 'R' line ones or the reds of the GTI.
              currrently... MY10 GTI | DSG | Candy White | Sunroof | 18's | BT | MDI
previously... MY08 GT TDI | DSG | Reflex Silver | Sunroof

Oh my god! Oh my god! I saw them! I saw them! Not all of them i'm sure, but enough! They were in Lonnie and some in Longford coming in from the back roads. Oh wow, they are just lovely!
