Polo parts?

I've had a couple of Seat Ibiza's - loved the cars but both were written off after minor accidents - the panels are so scarce that they cost an absolute fortune! I'm now looking at buying an older Polo (student!!!) but I don't want to get caught the same way again! Can people tell me what the parts availability is for say a 97 or 98 Polo, both body and mechanical?
