  • Crash repairer in Adelaide

New car is not so new after a bloke in a mini failed to look behind him in the Bunnings car park and reversed into me while I was driving past

Looks like both the panel in front of and behind the left rear wheel arch, the parking sensor, the rear passenger side door, and possibly the wheel itself may need repair.

Can anyone recommend a good crash repairer in Adelaide?

Anything else I should look out for?

    Crash repairer in Adelaide

Talk to the guys at Specific Prestige on Richmond Rd, Mile End(?). They do a lot of work for Solitaire and will use all genuine parts. They will typically replace panels rather than attempt to fix which is much better in my opinion.

Plus if you have the details of the other guy and it's his fault you can get a hire car through the crash repairer at no charge.

Thanks guys. Pretty sure my policy has choice of repairer. New panels sound good although I shudder to think how long they might take if they have to come from the factory :/

You should be right. If you can still drive it then they'll book you in once all parts are in.

I've used them a couple of times and result has always been very good.

If your insurance allows you choice of repairer then I'd be taking it there (as long as it's not too inconvenient).

I know it's a pain when things happen to your brand new car

I wish I could say the same, but they didn't do very good job on our Golf5 and Tiguan years ago.

My previous GTI was damaged when being serviced at Solitaire, and went to Specific Prestige for a respray of the rear bar. The initial repair was unsatisfactory (nibs in the paint, poor bar adjustment), so it went back with specific instructions to get it right. It was subsequently done faultlessly - they stripped the entire bar back to bare plastic (again) and resprayed again from scratch, rather than trying to correct their previous mistake with selective polishing and respraying.

A mate of mine has had his GTI repaired twice by Specific Prestige also (driven into in carparks both times), and on both occasions the repairs were spot-on and the paint matched very well.

So, like any repair, it pays to go over the job with a fine tooth comb once completed, but Specific can do excellent work.

On the Golf, the rear quarter panel was poorly fitted, the hatch never shut properly, unless you really slammed it. They have left the masking tape on the paint for too long and the adhesive seeped into the clear coat. We've took it back, but it was just a waste of time. Similar with the Tiguan after it got reversed into by the P plater at the car park, the repair to front driver guard and the door was quite visible because the edge of the guard and the door poorly matched and I could see the sanding marks in the paint.

I also had my van repaired by ME Dale Crash and had to involve the insurance company in it for them to fix the repair to the tail gate. They did absolutely terrible job and I wouldn't ever go back there with anything.
