So, I needed to have my wife's Tiguan serviced for its 4th year.
I contacted that specialist, then they provided me with a quote which was reasonable.
After I found a date I could take the car away for a day and on an annual leave date i had been approved for (it is my wife's daily drive to work and I work weekdays in a fairly demanding job where every 6 mnts count; there is no service centre in Brisbane that does Sat, Sydney with their Sat open for business hours was much much better to cater normal Mon-Fri workers), I went to book and mentioned a few requests:
- no need spark plugs (I still have 2 spare sets fr the GTI), no need cabin filter (I change mine every 12 months), no need air filter (I use k&n);
- need extra haldex fluid; and
- need help to install subframe bolt spacer plates to fix clunking noise.
I asked them to take into account on the existing quote (obviously I do not want to be charged for parts I don't need per above, happy to pay for the haldex and extra labour to fit the plates, which I can do myself but on a hoist it is a lot easier).
I also mentioned that I had a Golf R that would be due for its 4 year service in May / June this (with the hope that they would provide decent and polite non condescending customer care for a potential customer with 2 VW's).
I sent the booking and request via their website. In 3 days I had no reply, on the 4th I rang and they said they would come back to me with a revised quote. On the 5th day I called again, the lady on the phone passed it to the owner and I heard 'it's that guy...'.
Spoke to the owner, he said to me 'we are a professional company... we don't reduce quoted prices' and a few other comments, all in negative tone as if I was asking for 50% off the quote. Mind you, I never asked for cheaper prices on reasonable quotes. He must have had a really bad day BUT for me as a customer, there is no way I would bring my cars there as his comments were insulting
Anyway, I am taking the Tiguan to the authorised VW dealer where i bought the tiguan from. The quote I was provided by James Frizelle VW dealer including a loaner was only $40 higher than Euro-Aus quote and they will adjust it according to my request for the above items.
