Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • good mechanic in newcastle

as the title says, after a good mechanic in newcastle.
i just went for my blueslip on the mk2 golf. and it failed on a oil leak.

the car also needs a really good tune up and feels pretty loose in the steering. im planning on giving it new plugs and leads and also oil change oil filter and air box. but i cant really do the tune up myself.

    cheers brad.

Most euro owners head to European auto centre in wickham/maryville. He is pretty good.

Although I only ever see mk4's, 5's and 6's there.

Hey Surfpig - in the Newcastle meet & greet???? thread, Golf-Sam suggested Perry Penfold / Penfold Automotive Engineering at Georgetown for my service enquiry.

Why is that? I work in the area and Georgetown is more convenient for me then Maryville.

Agreed, we take the Mrs DC5 Integra to Dave and he is very good, her car generally costs 50% less to service then my GTI.

Stuffed the timing chains on my engine causing it to snap the intermediate shaft. Charged 3 times the amount quoted for the first lot of work. 4 times the second time round. Smoked in my car and dropped ashes on the seat and floor. Grease and oil on interior pieces. Scratches and dents left in the body and tools left on the engine then closing the hood.
