Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VW Air Conditioning specialist? (or auto elec)

I have mentioned it a couple of times in Mk3 section, but with no real response I thought I would post somewhere more general... I hope this is the the right place for it.

    Anyway...

Does anyone know of any auto electricians or air conditioning people that specialise in VW's? For me I'm looking for one in Sydney's west (or anywhere in Sydney really), but if you have one in another state list it for the benifit of others.

This all starts a while back when I went from place to place asking for someone to look at the AC in my car. Pretty much all of them said they could give it a bash and would be ok, but didn't really know VW's. So I took the car to my usual auto elec who has always been very good.

Now he has freely admitted that when it comes to my car, he's basically having to learn some things as he goes. At least he's honest!

What I'm hoping for is someone who knows VW's (particularily the Mk3 VR6 but lets not nit pick here ) so hopefully when there is an issue they have some idea what is wrong and where to look to fix rather than checking everything on the way.

I'm asking for both auto elecs and air conditioning people, usually they are one in the same, but right now I want AC but I know there are a few minor electrical issues that I will get looked at soon too...

    So... anyone know anyone?

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.
Working...
