Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Service cost comparison - Golf Mk VI - 30k (second service)

Just had my drive serviced at my local dealer in Melville, PERTH.
If anyone is comparing service costs, here is the run down...

    Odometer: 11,500 km
    Service: 30k (second service)
    Cost $503.56

    It basically included :
    • New oil and filter
    • New brake fluid
    • Replace pollen filter

Even though there is a long list of "inspect" or "checks", some checks take literally seconds - "check horn", "check turn signal", "check coolant level". Not good value in my book.

Here is a copy of the service invoice if anyone is interested or are going to service their Golf soon: $ervice Invoice - click here

I'd be interested in how others have fared for a similar service.

Ring each of the nearby dealers as they can charge differently. I had my 15k and 15k services done at VW dealers and was charged just under $400. I had my 30k service done at VolksPower (independent VW specialist) and they charged me $295.

There are other threads here on the subject so be sure to search for them.
Some say he was the Stig... all we know is that he drives a VW Transporter.
