Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Brighton Panel Works? - Help please

    Hello members,

I would like to know about your experience with Brighton Panel works. I have damaged the rear driver-side door of my Golf (less than a year old) that has caused a long & deep scratch (about 40cm long) with a dent near the door handle. The worst part of all is that I am insured with AAMI and I went through several posts in the forum about the quality of work done by AAMI preferred repairers. Although AAMI gives a choice to select one of the repairer to be our preferred one, I read that it would mostly be an eyewash since their recommended people give the cheapest quote.

Since one of the members suggested Brighton Panel works (in a different thread) and since they are also in AAMI's preferred list, I would love to hear about their quality of work. If positive, I would probably recommend them to AAMI with the hope that they would beat the quote of the other one! Help please.

I'm with AAMI and I found their service to be far above expectation. I was hoping to never have to use them but unfortunately the wife gave the Skoda a small touch up against a 20 year old ute.

I took the option of letting them organize the repairer and my vehicle ended up with Euro Image in Chesterville Rd, Moorabbin. They did a really good job and the paint matches up very well with the factory paint job. The slight orange peel effect of the factory paint and the smash repairer paint matches perfectly.

I am one fussy person (just ask my wife and work mates), bordering on it being a disorder, so I was very particular about the finish. So much so that now my GTI has been chipped by a little sh#t (see thread - time to first damage), by choice I am taking it to Euro Image.

Back to AAMI though, they paid for a taxi from their centre and back to get the car, they called me every day to update me on the progress of the car and the whole process was complete in 5 days or so. Really good I thought.

Thanks mate! I don't have a choice rather than to keep my fingers crossed and leave the rest to AAMI. I hope the job comes out to be as good as your car's! I would probably pick Brighton & Euro Image from AAMI's two preferred ones: at least I can have peace of mind that they would do a good job.

P.S. Thank you moderator for moving this thread into the right place
