Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi Guys

I have a t4, its running all good. I have had for over 2 years. When I was on a trip down the coast there was a noise coming from the driver’s side. I thought it was the either the aux belt or the dreaded timing belt on the way out.

I managed to get home Ok and I started her up and nothing no noise. I ran it for a 20 min and it was fine.
I took off the engine cover to inspect and could see nothing was amiss. All belts and pulleys looks fine. Recently I was getting a weird noise when I went into reverse.

I would like to get a mechanic to look at it. I live in Coogee, Sydney I know there is the VW village off Anzac parade, I heard mixed reviews about it. I don’t want to get fleeced by the main vw garage. Does anyone know any mobile or home mechanic who could assist.

Also does anyone have a rough idea how much it cost to get the timing belt replaced on T4 2.5LTR.

    Many thanks
    Darragh
