Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Parking Sensor (Sydney)

Hi, just bought a MKV GTi and thinking about getting rear parking sensor installed.

I prefer a model that has both visual display and beep tones; and a budget of approx $300 including parts/labour/colour coding.

Any recommendations where I can get one installed in Sydney?

What advantage does OPS has over other parking sensors?

If you want just parking sensors, then the ones I had on my traded in Hiace were installed by William Geddes. They cost $375 and that included them coming out to my place and fitting it. Colour coding of the sensors is extra. It gives an audible warning only.

The advantage if the OPS is that the rear of the car is divided into 4 sectors and it gives a visual indication as to which sector an obstruction has been detected in. This is in addition to the beeping that gets faster the closer the object is.
