Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • New to Australia :-)

    Hi guys,

Im quite new to Australia (18 Months), and Ive been in Melbourne for around a year now.

My love for VW's has been growing for around 6 years now and I was deeply upset when I had to give up my heavily MK2 Golf Ryder because I was leaving the UK

I have however found a new pride and joy, MK2 1991 Golf Karmann Cabriolet!

Always wanted a cab bun could never justify it in UK weather!!!!

I bought it with a few things wrong with it but got a pretty good deal, thinking I could replace the parts easily myself - How wrong could I be??!!!!

Trying to find parts for this bad boy is near impossible!!

I did eventually locate a new roof which I must admit was worth waiting for - $1600 inc GST and expertly fitted.

I now however have a new problem, I have replaced the rad with a brand new german one in the hope of solving the water leak, this it did, however I now need a fan as mine went bust an hour after dropping in the radiatior.

I am also on the look out for a new oil sump, and some centre console vents.

Ill post some pics soon if anyone is interested??

Hope I havent bored you guys here, and if anyone in Melobourne is keen to hook up I'll be there!!

    Cheers

Welcome to the forums Grigglatov! I'm sure there will be some people in Melbourne to help you out.

Interested in pics? Hell yes we're interested! Both of your UK Mk2 and your current Cabrio! Do you still own the Mk2 in the UK? Because it's possible to import it in...
      Past: Mk3 Golf 2L 8V, Audi 8L A3T.
      Present: Mk3 Golf variant.

Matt (Loon) should be able to get used parts for you, otherwise try Wolfsburg Automotive.

Ah man, that sucks. No good stories have come out lending out your pride and joy to others.
