big shout out to jimmy from alba european. i have come to know jimmy quite well, and cannot speak more highly of him and his work.
i picked up a 5dr 88 Mk2 16V which i've been told on Mk2 UK forum is an "executive edition" from SA due to power steering, power windows/mirrors and leather seats.
i bought it not knowing what i was getting myself into...i'm no mechanic, just love to drive em. that said jimmy has done a superior job fixing it up.
it had terrible cold/hot starts. i would drive for 5 min, turn the ignition off and i wouldn't be able to start it for another 45min plus with a good six turns of the key to get it going.
now it starts first turn of the key whether it be a cooler brisbane winter morning or after running around hot for 45min. AMAZING WORK and he truly deserves to change his name by deed poll to jimmy audidubdoc.
i can honestly say i get a bigger smile on my face driving the mk2 16V compared to my mk5!
this has been helped along with:
KW sports susp kit (40mm)
Brembo grooved brakes up front and Brembo solids up back with new Pagid pads
New clutch
Jetex air filter
Jetex stainless exhaust (to be fitted in the next couple of weeks)
and numerous other replacement parts...
i intend on getting a respray in candy white in the next few months...along with a possible interior upgrade.
won't be posting any pics until a later stage...this post is more to say thanks to JMAC.
