After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • Car Mechanical Check in NSW?

    MOVED TO MKV FORUM

    Hi Guys,

I live in Perth but am looking at a MKV GTI in NSW.

In Perth we have the RAC who can check vehicles, but who would you recommend to perform a pre-sale check in NSW? Just the local version of RAC, or is there someone you would specifically recommend who has a great knowledge of VW?

If so, any ideas as to the cost of such a check..

    Thanks in advance..

There is NRMA who do a pretty standard check.

Where abouts is the car located in Sydney. From what I have heard there are a few good mechanics round Sydney who may be able to help you out.

NRMA stopped the vehicle inspection service a while (maybe up to 2yrs) ago and now offer it via Motorserve.

Instead of that I used Seb at Girraween. If you could get the seller to get a check at his workshop, then pay for it yourself, that's one option. What's his forum username?

drive.com.au has a nice looking, upgraded Jetta TFSI under $20k (w. 90k on the clock), whose owner works in the west of Sydney - might be an option if you don't get that GTI.
Bizi's Jetta TDI: Blue Graphite w. factory leather & tint, plus + Enkei Racing NT03+M + Yokohama S Drive 18s, Koni FSD, Neuspeed coils, GTI RSB + brakes, InPro mirrors, VW navi, Modshack. Come for a drive through the twisties on Saturdaze.

          The outcome

          Hi Guys,

Thanks for the updates. Got a company called Sydney Vehicle Check to check the car out.

A couple of issues, so ended up giving it a miss, but picked one up from QLD.

          Cheers

          Adam
