major service

hey guys,
i am new to this forum, and was just wondering if anyonw would be able to recomend a shop to get amajor service done. VW just seem to do the bare minimum and charge premium for the job done. thanks for that.oh yeah, am looking in the cbd area of melbourne.

mate vw service departments aus wide do major services on interval every four years as specified by volkswagen group Australia services include plugs. brake fluid, oil and filter, pollen filter, fuel filter,generally brakes if needed commonly are strut mounts same thing. You may pay more but you dont get a guy in a local garage thowing in castrol oil not synthetic ryco filters green dot 3 brake fluid from supercheap u pay for quality or if smart do youself wih vw parts bc alot of garages local dont use specified parts

or I go buy VW parts and bring em' to the garage, still... go to VW specialised garage is best

yeh thats a good option if u have a history with a vw specialist but the only problem with that is that vw tends to void warranty if the vehicle is under the three year warranty period so if your mechanic forgets to put oil in and seizes the engine who will fork out $8000 for the new engine block then labour to fit the head inlet exhaust the list is endless i would just be wise as ive seen it happen often in the trade

Im not trying to sound big headed lol, Try Volkwerke in greensborough (I work there). We use good quality german filters (not ryco). 9435 1868. We see alot of people with the same story as you.

William , ease up dude . If every workshop was to work like you say they do they would either go broke fixing mistakes or have no customers . Question for ya though : Who pays for the engine rebuild at the dealer if you forgot to put oil in the car and the engine seizes ? Warranty obviously wont cover it , Im pretty sure VW will come out and inspect an engine if they are going to fork out $10k on a new one .

I can't see any other option than to follow the directions of VW and ensure that authorised parts are fitted at the correct intervals during the warranty period. I mean.... You'd be a fool to do anythihng else. If a mistake is made during servicing the it's encumbent upon the servicer to pay recompense. VW make the rules, buyers abide with them and if a mistake occcurs then the buyer has done the right thing.

I have never had luck with getting services done. I think it depends on what sort of car you have, if I took my 16v to a dealership they'd scratch their heads for 2 days and then charge me for it. Even if I wanted a minor job done I think they'd charge like wounded bulls.
The dealership I get most of my parts from charge 100 dollars to look at your car, then you get that back on service if you need anything done.
The independant VW service places can be good as long as they know about your car specifically.
Like I said I think it's more based on what car you have specifically.
