Can anybody recommend somebody in Melbourne (pref inner city suburbs or west side), who knows enough about golfs to do a RWC? Took my 95 golf GL to one place today and they wouldnt pass it because the fog lights (the fake ones at the bottom of the bumper, that are there for looks only) didn't work... Any suggestions would be a huge help!

Hey!
I'm assuming you already paid for and received an official VicRoads road worthy check form outlining the issues to be corrected, and that the only thing they listed on that form was the fog lights. Considering that, all you have to do is "fix" the fog lights. My suggestion to get the RWC you already paid for, is to go down there with someone who knows something about cars, and even pull out the blanking off plate in front of them and show them their incompetence. After which, they have to give you a RWC.
However, I'm going to doubt that the fog light is the only listed item on your official Vicroads RWC check form, because if that was the only item, they'd probably let it slide. In which case, you may need some work done on your car and the repairs, changes or whatever, plus another RWC check are going to cost you some dough. So be prepared!
Other than that, I'm from the Eastern burbs, so someone else might be able to chime in about a Western burbs workshop that can work on VW's.
Sorry if I'm blunt, just trying to help!
