Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

in my experience mate, getting a part painted/respray done at a "realistic" price means headaches down the track.
    orange peel
    overspray
    cracking or peeling
    bubbling
if you intend on keeping the car, spend the extra dosh and get it done right first time
if you are selling the car soonish, maybe I could agree with you,but a keen buyer could notice a shoddy job.
personally I recommend DETRIOT CUSTOMS in arncliffe, resprayed my whole car, part insurance paid and part I paid.they did a excellent job and no headaches! and id say that the price they charged me was very resoanble for the level of work carried out.

doing a bonnet will set you back approx $600-800 depending who does it for you
      What’s behind you doesn’t matter..

Whereabouts in Sydney? A friend has just set up his own shop in Western Sydney, he's done lots of (excellent) restoration work on hotrods in the past, I'll be going to him when my car needs doing.
