Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Gasoline Particulate Filters (GPF's)

    Hi all

Not sure is this has been mentioned anywhere but thought maybe start a new topic. Happen to read again German car magazine (AutoBild) and came across an article about the looming Euro 6c emissions regulations starting September 2017 in Europe.

This will require all manufacturers to fit Particulate Filters for petrol engines. The law requires all manufacturers to start including the GPF's into all new models that are released after September and all exiting models to start fitting by September 2018. Lots of manufacturers will start this process European summer 2017 (pretty much now) ahead of the scheduled start of the emissions regulations.

Based on some internet research, it is the same technology as currently fitted to diesel engines and will work the same way.

Peugeot will be one of the first to do so with the new 308 which is due to arrive in Oz soon. All petrol models will be fitted with GPF's.

Wonder who will be the first one to cheat.

    Regards

Not worried about cheating. Definitely a worry though about them getting clogged. Lots of people avoid diesels for this same issue if they do shorter trips so more concerned about how they are going to address that for city drivers in particular.
