Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Premium Preparation Package

    Hey all

Mk4 Bora VR6 and Mk5 TDI owner upgrading to the 40th Anniversary GTI. Mad excited - or at least I was.

Was sent my updated delivery sheet and price confirmation today, and all was well (its pretty simple, given there are only colour and sunroof options) until I saw they had snuck in $115 for their dealer plate covers (no thanks) and a whopping $2,995 for the Premium Preparation Package.

After a handful of emails, all requesting the definition of what the PPP is, I am close to pulling the pin on the deal.

Dealer Delivery is also, curiously, listed as $2,995.

If needed I can name names and Dealer.

Ouch - sounds like the fake paint and interior protections they sell with maybe some fake rust thrown in? Never seen it actually forced on to a buyer though.

Definitely be moving on from them.

A very high end detail, paint correction and Opticoat or equivalent would be less than half that!

These guys know me though, they know i'm not dumb and know i definitely would never go for this stuff.
Besides, normally it is sold by some stupid idiot attached to the dealer as an after sales thing. Never just slid into the contract like they think I won't check.

        The Ming Mole.

Yeah that's a little odd - unless it's to pay for a pit crew to prep your car at track days?

This has really soured my opinion of the dealer and I am likely cancelling the order Monday.

Probably going with a 1yo R and throw some mods at it

"$2995 is our standard dealer delivery on all performance models. The dealer delivery is the same on both contracts. As you can see the price came down by $2995.

                This is not negotiable.

Please let me know if you cannot afford the car."

Dealer delivery for my recently picked up R was over 3k.
It's normal. You just need to negotiate the price on the vehicle to account for that.

Talking to the principal usually works.

I would literally commit a crime if a dealer came at me with that ish. Do not give those jerks a single penny.

Unfortunately they won't care as they know it will sell quickly. When Honda Accords were first sold in Oz back in the last century every car sold had AC fitted before sale and if the customer did not want to pay for it they did not buy the car such was the demand at the time.
