Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • My Solution to Shuddering Wipers

    Hi Ladies and Gents

    Background:

My wipers, mainly the drivers side, continually shuddered. I tried most things with no success. So after replacing the Aeroblades and having the same shuddering issue after 3 months I went down this path. Now after some 12 months, I am happy to report, here is my success.

Also I wash my car every week and make sure I clean the wiper blades each time.

    Steps:

1 - Ensure your wiper blades are pliable and soft - if not replace them
2 - Scrub your windscreen with a green scourer and (Jif, Ajax, Gumption)
3 - Rinse and dry the screen
4 - Scrub your wiper blades as in point 2
5 - Clay Bar your windscreen twice
6 - Apply window polish twice - I used Autoglym Window Polish

As stated above, my windscreen wipers no longer have any shuddering problems. Hope this helps others.

    Cheers

    Mark

I've found putting glass cleaner in the washer bottle helps too.

I used a rain repellent coating on my glass and also a shot of Rain-X washer addistive. In this way, it refreshers the coating whenever I wash and wipe.
