  • Anyone else got rear-ended recently?

So, my 2 hour old Golf was rear-ended on Monday before I even got it home. I later found out my friend's 1 week old Golf was also rear-ended on Wednesday... Too much of a coincidence? I think so. Anyone else got rear-ended recently?

    Here's a pic of mine:

No surprise at all. Have you ever tailgated the car in front of you? So is the mystery of being Liberachied clear now?

Ha except none of these two accidents were the results of tailgating.

The first was the result of a Honda making a lane change at close to 60kph into a stationary lane (just as traffic started moving) and taking out the back of my car. I saw him coming and managed to pick up speed to bout 40.

The second was a drunk driver driving into a row of parked cars. The blue Golf was second car in, and was pushed out into traffic and t-boned as well by moving traffic.

On a side note, multi-collision brake works pretty well. Felt the car decelerate before I took over and pulled over. Seat belt also pulled me back into the seats pretty tight until I applied light throttle.

last week i was in a situation where if i had to brake suddenly to avoid anything (crossing koala, possum, etc...), my car would stop in time and avoid it BUT my rear would not end up in normal shape.

this is how typical ute drivers drive in QLD.

jump to 6:15 to see him in action:

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport - Super Select 2WD/4WD
Toyota 86 GTS Performance Pack Moon Slate - RWD
MINI Cooper S Clubman - FWD

What a ****. I hope you turned the footage into Policelink.

Edit: The verdict is in from the repairer. 4 weeks total. 2 weeks just waiting for the tailgate to arrive from Germany.

My 1 month old Jetta is now in the repair shop. I was rear ended on the M1 in Beenleigh heading towards the GC.
It's going to be over a month till they get all the parts, Allianz has given me rental car that is a Nissan, But nothing is like a VW!

Same Situation with the Nissan... It has a CVT Too YUCK!!! Nothing beats that DSG.

Is it normal for VW's to have such long times with repairs, If thats the case I will be re-considering having my insurance with Allianz as they only have complementary rental car for 14 days.

All the insurance I know of only cover 14 days less extra accident cover. It's for if you are at fault.

                  You should look at itwasntmyfault.com.au
Shipstone my repairer recommended them. They rent you a car and claim the full cost off the at fault party's insurance. Best part, it's free for you and the accident excess by default is $400 (if you crash the rental car)

As for me and another friend with Golfs, it was waiting 2 weeks for the tailgate + 2 weeks repair time.

My sisters golf with side damage by Aust Post truck + hail damage to 3 sides and roof took 3 weeks without waiting for parts.

Another friend with a Ford Focus who also recently got rear ended waited 3 weeks for hers to be fixed.

Ps. Itwasntmyfault.com.au redirects you to Compass Claim which is the actual company.
