Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Thoughts: Buyers on Gumtree wanting iPhones/iPads for cash

    Hey fellow VWW compadres,

I'm needing to offload an iPhone and iPad that I've been part-paid in lieu of salary and can't be hassled with the auction/listing process on ebay or gumtree.

I see plenty of posts on Gumtree like "Best & Fast Cash for iPhones and iPads" etc.

Now I understand that these guys will most likely lowball you with the price but how legitimate are they? Do they just resell the items at a markup because they lowball or part them out etc, or is it actually something more sinister?

    Chur for your help!

Try somewhere like this. Mobile Monster | We buy mobile phones for cash | New, Used & Damaged
My mate use to work there. My biggest fear with selling on phones/iPad is personal info being accessed by the new owner

Cheers man, prices seem fair for an easy sale and legitimate.

Out of curiosity, did your mat tell you what they did with the phones/ipads? Assuming they refurb then onsell...

Not sure, assume sold on if good condition, repaired and sold on if in not so great condition

Always do a factory reset before selling either,

You can sell on Gumtree for a fixed price. I bought a Nexus 7 for a good price by haggling with the seller.

Also got a Sony Vaio Duo for an excellent price off there. $1700 worth 8 months old for $575 cos owner wanted a MAC nothing wrong with it at all.

I just did a factory reset when I offloaded my iPhone. Happiest day of my life.
