  • Should I bother with 75,000 service at service centre / vw specialist?

    Gday all,

    I have a MKV R32 Golf and it's due for it's 75,000 service.

It's always had it's services done at VW as it had extended warranty which ran out beginning of this year.

I've changed the oil every 7,500km (just me being anal).

I've just looked at the 15,000/75,000km service schedule and it says only the oil is changed and the brakes are inspected (which I change myself anyway).

So it looks like there's no need for me to drop it into a service centre or vw specialist like Audvolks until the 90,000km service?

I have a vagcom cable so can I can reset the service indicator too.

    Cheers.

And I'm guessing if you read your extended warranty PDS, it will state somewhere you need to service it on schedule with an approved service agent.

Edit: Ignore above, re-read your comment. You're out of warranty completely. (fix that "our" to "out") Service it yourself

Benefit of servicing at a dealer, goodwill available if you need it.. Food for thought.. Do whatever you want though buddy, but yes 75k is essentially just oil and filter.

Only reason I see is when you want to sell, there will be proof of regular servicing via the service centre's stamp in your log book.

          Thanks all for your replies.

Good thinking on the goodwill aspect and the 'always serviced' aspect. Thanks heaps!

I'll call VW and see how much they charge for the service, especially since I've always supplied a specific oil. Cheers.

It's not very expensive to do that and certainly ensures the engine internals are well looked after

I'd get the book stamped, purely from a resale point of view.
