  • Volkswagen Assist or RAC Roadside

    Hi all

My 3 year warranty and registration for VW Roadside assist is expiring soon.
I just received a letter from VW with the offer to extend it for an extra year for $105.
What is the difference between VW Assist and normal RAC roadside insurance?
Am I better off getting VW assist or just go with RAC? Are there any particular advantages to go with VW?
Is there something that VW won't cover compare to RAC?
It says that they don't accept service calls for your vehicle due to accident damage. So does that mean that if I had an accident I won't get towed? Isn't RAC offering towing due to accident or am I wrong?

    Thanks

Probably best to compare plans from each provider and determine which best suits you:

      Volkswagen Assist (Assist Australia)
      RAC Roadside Assistance
      Allianz Roadside Assistance
... and others (refer to Google for more providers).

Make note in particular the various limitations and exclusions so that you are not caught out when least expected.

I think you will find that they are sub-contracted to the auto clubs anyway.

I would suspect that the standard option is to send out a tilt tray truck and take your VW to the nearest VW dealer.

That's what they do with skoda assist.

Although they have to send someone out to confirm that "no the car isn't running" first so got have an hour or so wait for them and then another hour for the truck.

                Joy.

                  That is usually the case.

Generally, roadside assistance deals with broken down vehicles, while insurance companies deal with vehicles involved in an accident.
