1 less competitor in the Market - OPEL gooooooooone
It's the warranty and technical back-up that will affect those that bought them.
Well, given the warranty is only 3yrs anyway - that won't be an issue... As for technical back-up - get yourself a good mechanic (just like you would for any car)... I notice Opel Aust has already posted soothing notes on their website...
I feel Hillbilly has more of a point with the hit in resale value owners will take - given VW's name isn't that crash hot ATM I can kinda relate to that one..
Might be able to get a bargain if you're in the market.

I read this on their Customer Care tab;

It covers maintenance, accessories, warranties and much more. Because we do not only build cars, we live for cars. Talk about resale disaster.

It was supposed to be a tongue in cheek comment!
Buuuut with all the people reporting that VWs are being refused as trade ins at the moment I wouldnt be surprised.
Anyways id say (complete speculation) that the fall in the AUD has made business hard for Opel in Australia. There has been an almost 20% fall vs the Euro and low sales volume would make it very difficult for Opel Aus to negotiate better pricing which is important in their segment.
