    Hi folks,

In the coming month Im looking at selling the A3. I love the thing but there are a few issues so it will probably be going.

I'm looking around for new options and would love to stay in the VW Group.

    My list:
    - Audi A3 8V 1.8TFSI or 2.0TDI
    - Audi Q3 2.0TFSI
    - Volkswagen Jetta 147TSI
    - Volkswagen Passat 130TDI or V6 4-Motion
    - Volkswagen Golf MK6 GTI or MK7 103TSI
    - Mercedes B250
    - VW Tiguan 155TSI

That's basically the list I have currently. I am also open to other suggestions around the $50,000 mark!

Thoughts and opinions on this list would be hugely appreciated, I'd love to hear some thoughts rather than my own

    Cheers and many thanks

Only just released. Seen a white with black wheels at the dealer and it looked sweat. Looks great in and out with the same engine (little less power) as the RS around $45 with all the options sat nav, bi xenons, leather, sunroof, and more.

Looked at them and the 2.0TDI as well. I like them but compared to the Q3, I couldn't go for one. Are there any suspension differences in the 155TSI? I just didn't like the handling of the Tiguan's I drove that much. I know its not a small car though and I need to respect that.

I would consider but I've driven and worked on a few now, very harsh ride and the interior quality isn't up to VW standards. As an everyday its just not suitable haha.

Thanks for your suggestions though guys, valued greatly

Going to drive a 155TSI Tiguan tomorrow to see weather that would fit the bill as well.

I'd still love opinions and suggestions

Citroen DS5? Super damn awesome interior imo but could be bias. Just dont go for an EGS transmission with it as ive heard they can be pretty clunky.

If you were after small SUV perhaps LR Freelander 2? Not sure what kind of model would be available though at around $50k.

            Alfa Romeo Giulietta QV?
            BMW 125i

Out of your list i'd probably go for the A250.

The DS5's are cool and funky but resale is quite poor and I really dont like the to drive. I have worked and driven about 3 DS5's now, quality is interesting I have found.

I like the Freelanders but they aren't as good to drive as say, a Q3. A damn fine car none the less but I'd buy a Q3 over one I have to say. Still I might re look this as it been a while since Ive driven one and they have made some 2013 changes.

Alfa Giulitta is a stunner and a amazing car to drive. I owned a 147 for a while and loved it but had a few issues. What lets the Giulitta down for me a bit is its cheap interior. I guess I've been spoilt by the Audi.

I forgot about the F10 1 Series. I will add that to the list for certain!

And yes, I like the A250 a lot, just not the order waiting list

                Thanks mate!

Know these well, very well and I drive the old mans Octavia very regularly. Driven a few V6 Superbs and they are lovely cars. But that engine in the Passat just is so much nicer and that drives better also. I would get a Passat over a Superb.

                Thanks

Went and drove a Tiguan this morning and I really did enjoy the 155TSI. Was a very nice car indeed with some very nice poke. Added to the list!

Also went and drove a Freelander 2 and that wasn't near as dynamically good as the Q3 or Tiguan. And not cheap either for decent spec. So I have decided no against them.

Also have removed the A-Class off the list as the waiting list is just too long and the boot is just too small I feel. Driven a 200 CDI and a 250 and I loved them though. Hard decisions...

Still open for more opinions and suggestions

Just so you know there is no difference in the 132 and 155 tiguan other than the engine tune (can be recitifed by an ecu remap) and the 155 comes with DSG standard.

In the end it really comes down to what you want out of the car so we can give you a valid answer since your options seem to cover everything.

Thanks mate, I am just stuck with what I really want. There are so many lovely options I have there. I am going to go and drive a few more today and hopefully get into my head what I really want.

                      Cheers

Your list is somewhat similar to mine lol

                          My thoughts:

Golf: I currently have a mk6 GTI and 90TSI. I'm thinking about trading the 90 for a mk7 GTI later this year but only if they offer it here in a manual and 3 door. However from what I've been seeing so far in the discussion threads the latter isn't going to happen so that brought me to the:

A3 (8V MQB): Yes it's not a 3 door nor as powerful but I really love the design both inside and out. I test drove one at the launch day - The only thing I really didn't like was the steering - It felt a little 'light' but some might like it that way. The fit and finish is typical Audi - excellent. If you have a chance to check out the navigation system it's pretty cool with the touch pad letter recognition thing (fast forward to 1:55):

Q3: The only reason this got onto my radar was the panaramic glass roof, I saw it on a demo at a dealership and thought it was balls. Since they're availalbe in a manual w/ quattro standard I thought it'd be worth a look - After driving both this and a mate's Tiguan (tuned) to compare I'd probably go for the Tiggy. I just think for what it offers it's good value for money especially if you plan a tune. There was nothing wrong with the Q3 for me - It is nice but for the options I was after it came in around 60k.

QV: I recently went with a mate to Alfa to check one out - I actually thought the interior was quite good. Maybe the 'cheap' parts you felt were from Chrysler lol.

At the moment I'm looking at either a used Scirocco R or maybe wait for the A3 sedan... Decisions, decisions. Good luck!

I would like that option, but the rear practicality for me is an issue. Thanks anyway mate

                            Tis a similar list haha!

I love the 8V myself. Driven 3 variants of it now, the 2.0TDI, 1.8TFSI and 1.4TFSI and loved the way the car drove. In regards to the steering, the Audi Drive Select on the Ambition Trim models fixed that issue for me and provided good weighting. I already have quite light steering in the A3 now and am use to it so no big issue. And I love the MMI control interface as well.

The Q3 is a car I love for some reason, its just a great all rounder and handles so well. The ride quality on the smaller wheels I have found better than the Tiguan too. I'd go for 2.0T 155TSI spec then just look at a reflash but yes, the Tiguan is a lot less. Decisions decisions

I just aren't a fan of the interior on the Giulitta, lovely drivers car though. Im just use to all great quality VW Group interiors haha.

I'd look at a Scirocco if I didnt need the extra doors but sadly, I do. And if I were you I'd wait for the A3 Sedan and get it in 1.8TFSI spec, would be a beautiful drive!

                            Thanks so much man
