Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

VW brings forward recall of NZ cars - Business - NZ Herald News

"Volkswagen New Zealand general manager Tom Ruddenklau said the recall had been scheduled for September, but had been brought forward following discussions with the head office in Germany."

Bet that was the same for AUS. They have long known and long planned for a late stage recall. Media pressure changed that.

I just received my letter from VW NZ, advising my MY 13 GTI (built Dec 2012) was not affected by the recall, but this was a courtesy letter to advise that "As customer satisfaction and vehicle safety are our utmost highest priority, we want to ensure our Volkswagen customers can have absolute peace of mind. Volkswagen is extending the gearbox warranty period for all DSG gearboxes from 3 to 5 years (from the date the vehicle’s warranty first commenced) and are offering a free vehicle Health Check for any Volkswagen customer who has any concerns."

      So, that's something at least...
