  • DSG Recall for Skoda?

In light of today's announcement of the VW 7-speed DSG recall (Volkswagen—Polo, Golf, Golf Wagon, Golf Cabriolet, Jetta, Passat, and Caddy Vehicles)

I have contacted my local dealer service center and the official Skoda response is none as of yet. I did have a look on Skoda Aus' facebook just out of curiosity and someone has popped the question, no response yet.

Still going to get my car checked though.

Won't affect the majority of you Octy guys as you drive vRS's but it might be of interest to see how this pans out, for Skoda's sake of longevity and brand loyalty they should do the right thing.

That link indicates octavia is excluded from potential recall. How is that possible?

It sounds ridiculous doesn't it. I'm hoping Skoda will address that properly.

Hopefully we'll also see the drivetrain warranty on Skoda vehicles extended to 5 years, in line with the recent changes to the VW warranty.

i wonder if they'll extend the recall to fabia and the yeti too?

would be nice if skoda issued their own statement.

                  DSG Recall for Skoda?

I had my DSG serviced the other day as it was clunking down from 2nd to 1st, and the noise sounded like there was a problem for sure.
They charged me for labour and consumables but the tune and calibration was covered under warranty.
I wonder if I can get that money back now they recognize there is a problem?

I don't think it would be fair? How many km's have you done? The DSG oil and filter change is every 60,000km or 4 years and sooner if driven under severe driving conditions. I wouldn't even ask, but I'm not stopping you from asking them.

Last thing I read was :

Meanwhile, Skoda Australia public relations manager Kurt McGuiness confirmed 1746 Skoda Octavia and Superb models would also be forced back to dealerships to have their seven-speed DSGs corrected.

McGuiness said all owners of affected vehicles would be contacted directly by Skoda Australia. Owners looking for more information can contact Skoda Australia’s customer service hot line on 1800 607 540.

                      this is from:

                      This post on Car Advice

Looks like the Fabia vehicles are not included (or Yeti) and most likely because the Australian delivered cars were built after the recall period.

I tried calling the 1800 number around lunchtime today and it simply rung out. Perhaps the call centre person called in sick - I probably would've after reading the article as well. If anyone has any success, would be interested. I'll simply contact dealer.

hahaha. I had a very good chuckle over this one.

It seems VW are going to contact affected owners in July so probably Skoda will be the same.

It probably rung out because 500 other owners are ringing to ask the same question.

Admittedly I was simply calling to understand what the recall involved - as I had the clutch pack replaced in my 90tsi wagon about 6 weeks ago.
