Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Re: My Trip Home/ not trying to Bash police but sometimes they ask for it

I was a passenger in a Police car once. Being the honest kind, I was usually also a little naive, believing everyone else was too.

The Senior Constable in the driver's seat drives straight through a red light.

    Me: You right there?
Him: (quote} I am a Police Officer. I can do anything I want.

His real reason for driving like a blue penis? He had free entry to the nearby Entertainment Centre concert. Billy Joel was on. No crime prevented that night.

i always assumed that there was going to be issues like this.
but i didn't think it would be as seemingly wide spreed as it is.

and i guess the cop in my story could have been responding to something else. but personally, i highly dout it

I tend to just pull over when a cop sits on my ass.
Sometimes they drive on looking for their next prey other times they stop behind me
I get the question 'Why did you pull over ?'

Dunno what you guys do to attract them, but I drive a bright red GTI and I do about 30,000km per year and have never experienced anything like that from a police officer.

It would appear that there are a few here that don't like police. Hot tip. There are some places on this planet that pretty much have no cops at all! Go there and you can do whatever you want, and others can do whatever they want to you.
Meanwhile, don't forget, when it hits the fan, who you gonna call?

Fair call and I have mates tha are cops, mates dads who are cops an you know what, they're all cool. I dealt with one brilliant police officer when some drunk co*k in a silver rodeo side swiped my golf, she was amazing.

I'd heard stories of police just goading people into speeding or whatever and never believed it. I thought it was a standard excuse you are taught in school if you live in St Albans or sunshine for why they haters pulled me over... Bro....

When this guy was doing it though, I just thought he was a knob commodore driver, when I saw he was a cop, it was time to get my own back on him.

Ummm ghostbusters? Lol on a serious not, I wouldn't say I don't like cops. It just seems that the small selection of cops that I have with have been assh*les. On the other hand, I used to live in South Africa when I was young and went back 2 months ago. There are defiantly worse countries out there but I certainly don't trust the cops there to do anything. Never mind the insane amount of corruption in that country

It would appear there are some people on here that like Police. Hot tip. Police are people with guns and authority- when those people are corrupt, dishonest, even criminal, having Police is worse than not having them at all.

As for the good Police, here on the Gold Coast, there can be as few as six cars protecting the whole city some nights. You can call whoever you want, they're not coming. The poor buggers are hard up against it, so seeing those that waste time playing road games just makes me madder.

For fifteen years, I stood in front of the fan. I encourage anyone else who would allege they've got what it takes to hold back a little darkness, to stand on the thin blue line.

I've been in the military for ions and have been on some scary lines my self. I have a lot of police friends who are fair but show compassion when needed, but those how get the power trip are the ones I hate. If you want to I force the law to the letter fine. Speeding, DUI, drugs ect through the book at them. But my sister who has some health issues and only works at a local supermarket she's not at all mechanically minded and has to rely on the local mechanic to let her no if something is wrong when she gets her service done. Car was parked at work and the cops stopped and looked I've her car. The wheel alignment was pretty bad and had scrubbed the inside of the tyre bald but from the outside you wouldn't tell. They fined her $800 ($200 per tyre), another fine because this made it un roadworthy and because the window was cracked open 2cm on a hot day another fine for a insecure car. All up nearly $1500. How the does a IGA worker on minimum wage get that sort of money and come up with cash for new wheels instead of a fine give her a yellow to get it fixed and use the money on making the car safe.

Ah yes, but you see we have a helicopter here on the Gold Coast. I think I've seen more fire trucks than police cars on the Gold Coast since I moved here.

I should also add that when I was on my way to uni one day in my old non-turbo DS3 last year, I was pulled over for an RBT and the officer held me up there being convinced my car was turbocharged. I asked him if I could show where the turbo would be had it been the turbo model but he refused and asked me to stay in the car. Stayed there for about 20 minutes, and after a phone call to check my papers were correct and I wasn't driving a turbocharged vehicle I was allowed to go.

One of my friend's dad is police officer. Not a patrol officer or anything, but detective (inspector? I think?). When he was dropping some of us home from a party I do remember that we were travelling through Bulimba @ about 11ish pm with almost no traffic doing well over 100km/h in areas (in an unmarked Aurion). He is a really cool guy though, however that memory always lurks in the back of my mind.
