  • My Trip Home/ not trying to Bash police but sometimes they ask for it

    hey guys
so i witnessed something tonight that i feel i have to tell our community.
    let me paint the picture

im heading home along the ICB at around 8pm
the road is fairly congested but traffic is flowing freely at the speed limit.
im minding my own business when im passed my a taxi going about 5-10 ks faster than me
    i think nothing of it.
then 10 seconds later i see a black commodore drive aggressively in my rear vision mirror.
the road is 2 lanes wide and im in the right lane, surrounded by cars, ie road is pretty busy.
the commodore aggressively turns into the left lane to overtake me, bare in mind that im already going about 65 in a 60 zone.
My reaction: what a bloody ****head. so i increase my speed ever so slightly so he couldn't cut me off.
at this time a small lane merges on to the road on the left hand side.
this road only had about 20 meters left before it ended and was already starting to narrow.

you probably guessed it, this Commo**** swerves left, cutting of a car that was in the merge lane.
then floors it, and i mean floors it, to get around two cars. and cuts off the front car causing this car to swerve to avoid him.

at this point im like "what an absolute wanker, hes gonna kill someone driving like that"
as im thinking that, i see a set of police lights flash. i was happy this dude was getting pulled over.
but as i get a better look, i dont see the commodore being pulled over, rather it is the taxi that passed me earlier.

to my disbelief, i see the same black commodore, but now he is flashing his police lights. being all high and mighty.
honestly i slowed right down and almost pulled over behind them to give the bugger a piece of my mind, but i figure that wound probably only get me in trouble aswell.

now i get that, technically the taxi was speeding. but to warrant a reaction from a cop like that, its just reckless.
now if i was to do the exact same thing in front of him, id be facing a reckless driving charge and potentially a court case.

    anyway thats my story/ rant

    your probs sick of reading

anyone else ever see something like this.
i know i could report it, but the way i see it, its kinda my word against him
    me against the system

No but caught a female officer in a unmarked falcon in uniform applying lipstick while driving then picking her nose while at the lights( I was in the left lane). When she realised I had seen it all and as the lights went green she floored it. Wheels spinning and it step sideways narrowly missing the front of my car. She went off down the road out of sight. 2 min later I'm behind her at the servo as I pull in to fill up. I go over and ask for her name. The reply is "why" "why do you think" i said "you where doing the wrong thing and you know it and you nearly took the front of my car. Do you think that's a good example to set". She then drove forward, parked and paid and decided to check out my car as I filled up. "The car is 2 weeks old and no mods had been done so you will find nothing". She then waited for me to pay and leave and followed me all the way home (25km later) and stopped in front of my house as I pulled into my garage. She didn't drive of till my roller door was down. I reported it the next day. I know a thew cops and found out she was delt with pretty harshly so sometimes they get there own back.

re: My Trip Home/ not trying to Bash police but sometimes they ask for it

I was a police officer for fifteen years. I assure you, there are the same number of penises in the job as any other. I wish it was different but, sadly, not.

I have many stories, good and bad, but in the main, cops are just people working working for a living, just like you.

The number of penises are just more visible, and just make it harder for the honest ones to maintain credibility.

Sadly, I must also endorse the use of a dash camera. Remember to inform people that conversations are being recorded. They should also tell you, but that doesn't always happen.

Policing in Queensland, and even Australia, is in a very poor state.

I wish it was just one per cent. For me, I was in a place where the bad out numbered the good more often than not. But that's a story for another day.

If you use the one I posted there is an option to turn off audio recording and as the mic is fairly sensitive its not a bad idea.

I also have a camera in the rear window as well which can record when parked if motion or a bump is detected.

See the part in bold I've highlighted for you?

This means you sped up from your existing speed, which means you were probably doing 10-15km/hr over the posted speed limit as you were alread sitting slightly over the limit.

Your passive aggressive dangerous driving caused the police officer to drive in the crazy manner described. This is how accidents happen.

Henceforth, you are at fault. Rather than feel pissed off with the police you should feel pissed off with yourself.

To be fair if it was a marked police car with its lights and sirens on, as I believe all police cars should be marked, then you would not have done your little box-in maneuver and the officer probably wouldn't have had to drive dangerously to catch up with his offender. Regardless we are not on the roads to police others using them. If someone, and it doesn't matter who it is, wants to get past you then you gotta let them past. Mental illness is rife in our society and the last thing you want to do is be the catalyst for someone's breakdown as it could end very badly for everyone involved.

                    Drive safe.

yeh i totally get your point. i know i shouldnt have done that. police officer or not. so fair enough. it was just a emotional reaction.
let me clarify though, there wasn't really any room for him to get in front of me in the first place. he would really be squessing to get into this gap, i just slightly adjusted my speed so that he wouldnt even try it. he hadn't put his indicator on either so its not like i blatantly cut him off. looking back at it i know i shouldn't have done it.

regardless of that i feel that the manoiver that this cop pulled was dangerious. even in a police chase, in a marked car, with sirens on, it would have been to recless. in a unmarked car, no lights and trying to catch a car that was only going 10 over. thats just stupidity

You're making the assumption that he was only pulling him over for doing 10km over the limit...

Car could have been stolen, or the cop may have thought that the guy might have tried to get away if he saw lights and sirens coming. Who knows.

I'm happy to give cops a bit of leeway generally. They do a bloody tough job, and spend 90% of their time dealing with the bottom echelon of society.

                            Excellent...

I was talking on my mobile phone whilst driving three years ago. The unmarked car 4 deep in grinning idiot cops crossed two lanes of traffic and cut me off, forcing me pretty much into a ditch. I had my mother in law in the front and two of my smaller children sitting in the back seat.

I shouldn't have been on the phone, cops should't have nearly caused a very nasty accident to show off to their mates.

How much do cops make anyways?

p.s don't get me started on customs officers.

Semi related, Vic Pol are now being taken to court for 'conduct endangering life' by civvies who were used as a road block in their cars to stop a high-speed pursuit. One guy had his 2 young kids in the back seat and got rammed by a commodore at ~60kph after the clipped another civvie car.

I was tailgated by a black commodore last summer up the Mooroduc highway (the one with all the roundabouts). i stuck to my guns and obeyed the speed limit, I even took photos and dialed 000 because I thought 'I've done something here to piss this nut-bag off and he's probably going to shoot me the first chance he gets alongside me!' but I couldn't recall anything. As I was connected, I gave the rego of the car and this guy was all over the back of me, to the point that I could only see windscreen he was that close. Amazingly, I got a 'huh.....' over the phone and a response along the lines of 'I recommend you drive to the nearest police station if you feel unsafe, otherwise, please continue on....' Just as the phone disconnected, the car magically backed right off, then suddenly went flying past in the right lane. I had been in both the laet and right and this guy would not go past no matter what lane I was in so I thought "I'll get a good hard loook at you, you piece of sh*t" and guess what, it was an unmarked car with a jerk-head that looked like he was just out of nappies.

I went to frankston police and reported the sonofabit*h too sighting that I felt intimidated and genuinely frightened for my life, I then gave the number plate of the car and the guy paused. The cop was from that station. The arseh*le had seen GTI on the rear of the car and was just goading me into exceeding the speed limit. i didn't actually believ that cops did this until it happened to me.
