Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VW Golf - 3D Max & AutoCAD files

    Hi everyone,

Works been a bit slow so i've been messing around with our CAD/Revit libraries. I thought it would be fun to drop VW's into the offices projects I've already converted a 3D Max Scirocco R and MK6 Golf. Looks mint.

I want to do the same for a mk1 and mk2 golf. I know you can download them... Just not keen on spending $100 bucks, when it's just a bit of fun.

Anyone got any they can share?

    Cheers, Ed

I'm not sure about the various formats but you might be able to rip them from some racing games. i.e. a bunch of "modders" have been able to extract cars from games like Forza and modify them to import them into other games such as Test Drive Unlimited. Presumably that process involves using some sort of CAD program. Z-modler perhaps.

Got any screenshots of your work?
Some say he was the Stig... all we know is that he drives a VW Transporter.

I had a VW bora coloured the same as mine as a bit of a signatures in past Revit Projects, always got a laugh from clients when seeing the car in person on site or in the carpark outside work.
I found a VW rocco and a few other Audi models in CAD, ill dig them out.

there is a few VWs on Revitcity, think thats where my bora came from

      Edit:
pics for reference of how it was originally on the right, to how it is now on the left

Haha the bora's pretty cool. Yeah Revitcity's pretty good. I'm combining 3D with 2D graphics so that they can be used in work drawings and 3D perspectives, I'll get some pics when I get to work. Thanks
