Anyone ever been? I'll be in Europe then and would love some pointers. The English translation on the site isn't all that helpful.

    Cheers!

Yeah I'll be there this year...missed last year's official show by one day due to immigration not letting me leave the country until I had the correct visa to re-enter :/ but even so it was still awesome. You just head to lake worthersee anytime mid may and you're surrounded by argueably the most epic cars in the world.

Swear you've stolen my itinerary - I'm going UK until the 11th of May, flying to Hamburg and driving through Holland, Beligum, Luxembourg - that way down to Austria, then ducking into Hungary back through the Czech Republic and up that way and flying back to the UK briefly then back to Aus. Most of my route is based on photographic locations though.

            Worthersee Tour 2013

Search users fuzion and wabit. They've both created threads on worthersee. We went there in 2010. Had a great time seeing the VAG culture. Our way of modifying is so tame compared to half of the ideas they have.

Good fun and the area is just beautiful!

Tips - don't worry about not being able to speak German. They are all able to speak it even just the basics. It's pretty much a requirement there in hospitality or retail to be able to speak English.

Pick up a few words of German-Austrian before you go. Helps a lot and they do appreciate it.

Buy a chair when you get there. Will come in handy when you are sitting at the servo or on the main drag strip where you will more than likely be yelling "gummi gummi" lol loose translation is to rip a burnout

i know basic german which should help a little, but it's more fun when you don't know the language ... or more frustrating, depends on the conversation i guess

I'm going home to visit my family in Manchester UK hahaha!

My only tip which caught me out last time if you rent a car outside of Austria and drive in, you have to get a permit, it's like temporary road tax/rego and they check it at the borders. We were driving into Austria a like 4am so didn't really know - got fined just under $150.

now that its a bit closer to the date, what are peoples plans? I'm still deciding if I'll be going. Can't seem to gain any info off the website or facebook page, as in where to stay, where it actually is in regards to the lake etc.

                    anyone made plans?

I landed in hamburg today, picked up my audi a4 and slowly making my way across the border.

I am staying not far from reifnitz. hopefully its walkable from the accommodation so I can save on parking.

first time driving left hand drive and on the right side of the road. only once so far I almost went on the left hand side but my gf saved me from going too far haha

make sure you get to faaker see as well!

driving is easy, just came back last weekend after 3900kms driving through switzerland/austria/germany and italy again! They are MUCH better drives than Australians!
