Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    Nines Coverage of last nights fireworks

    Is anyone else disgusted at this.

    We watched from 1128 till 1210

    There was about 7 mins of very RickyLee at the start then from then until 1150 was nothing but self promotion by Channel Nine. Kylie had a few words then Daryrl Percival screaming about Start the Party and then 10 mins of fireworks.

    Waste of time staying up really.

    Agree, was a non-event, very different from previous years

    Seemed like they did a massive cutback on costs ?

    We waited for post midnight entertainment - nothing, so made our own entertainment

      There was fireworks last night?? Due to talking, drinking, and smoking, we missed the new year coming in, so we waited an hour and celebrated to new year coming in in Queensland!!

              Only turned it on at 5 to midnight to see the fireworks. Saw Darren Percival and he seemed very off... nothing like his Voice performances. Then the fireworks which seems way scaled back to past years. Then we went back to drinking games

                Unfortunately it has become nothing more than a promotion for various performers, and in many cases the network is "paid" by the promoters.

                If you want to watch the fireworks, then it really is a case of tuning in just before midnight and watching just the fireworks. The rest is just padding.

                  I thought it was terrible coverage... hated the long shots to show we have four lots of the same stuff (small when seen from afar) rather than concentrating on one barge and the bridge... LEAST they could have done was simultaneously broadcast them in HD on one of their alternate HD channels...

                  Hopefully next year the Foxtel 3d channel broadcast it at the very least Sydney's Fworks deserve 1080p (i mean c'mon!)

                    Agreed that it was terrible.

                    The Channel 9 production really seemed to have been done on the cheap with low rent performers and a whole lot of self promotion for both the network and its programming...

                    Really took the shine off what the occasion is supposed to be.
