VW Golf Ordering Delays

Last week I signed the order forms and paid my deposit for a shiny new VW Golf R with quite a few options which of course meant it was a factory build unless there was already the same specs in the country.

Well today, according to my dealer, he can't source the car in Australia and to my dismay VW are not taking new orders for Golf range.

Freaking out I rang VW and they confirmed there is a "delay" on taking new orders and when I asked how long this delay was the response was simply "we do not know."

So now I either buy a different car or wait, wait wait.

Anyone else getting this story or is there some dealer out there with a magic wand that can still order?

Have you tried calling another dealership to see if they will play ball?

I know that Australia only gets a certain quota of cars that they are allowed to order which is why some polo GTI owners have to wait 12 months.

I'd spec the stuff I can't retrofit here properly.

That would include sunroof, leather and Dynaudio. For me, only Dynaudio is a nice to have. Leather optional and no to sunroof.

The other stuff can be done locally IMHO.
