Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Which wins?

The age old question, but in the context of VAG.

    Dogs.
But they have to be at least medium sized (i.e. border collie etc) or bigger.

Anything i could pick up and throw (dogs and cats) is too small and irritating.

I would make exception for a serval/savanah cat

          Cats.

Look after their own cleanliness, exercise, and waste disposal.

              You're kidding me right?
I don't know any cat owners who don't have to clean up the pee and poop (either in the litter tray or the floor)

I'll give you the exercise point but that is an upside for me as it gives me a reason to go for a 5km jog.

See, that's where you're wrong. The owner doesn't have to do it because THEIR NEIGHBOURS DO. Generally, using the bottom of their shoe/slipper and depositing it on their own floor in their house after standing on it in their own garden.

2 dogs when i was a kid - both Dachshunds.
4 cats from about 20-40 including one for 16 years & one for 18 years.

I currently have a 2 year old Standard Poodle. He comes for rides in the car and is better behaved than most kids, he comes on MTB rides, he protects my kids, he hangs out when I'm working on the car. Dogs for the win I say.

How often do you see dogs laying cable on someone elses lawn or in a park and it not being cleaned up?

Easier to clean it up out of a tray than off a lawn. I maintain gardens for a living and I hate nothing more than having to clean up urban landmines before I start on someones garden.

Nearly slipped into a clients pool a few weeks back becuase their dog laid a fresh one on the decking right next to the pool, couldn't see it becuase it was the same colour as the deck.
