Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

More likely via Porsche or Lamborghini than directly via VW

My bet is Porsche, Bentley or maybe even Bugatti.

VW or Audi may go in as the 'name' engine supplier to get into the sport, then i reckon they'll try to go to a full works team under the guise of one of the first three brands.

Audi are only interested in Le Mans, and VW are putting most of their efforts into WRC for the next 5 years.

Either way, a loss making venture for VAG on the whole. Look at the likes of Honda, Toyota, Jaguar, BMW all of whom had a full on works teams over the past 10 years. All pulled out as it makes no economic sense and the road cars will suffer as a result as it will drain valuable R&D spend (Example in point - Honda). And these days, the direct transfer of technology from F1 to road cars isn't as great as it use to be.

Best for VAG to stick with Le Mans and Rally I think.

However its funny the KERS system from the Toyota is now running in this years Toyota Le Mans car

BMW mastered ESC further due to traction control on their 2007-8 Formula 1 cars.

Problem is today is Formula 1 has become controlled thus it doesn't offer many companies the freedom to innovate new technology due to "bans" and what not.

Volkswagen could develop a single engine then give it to several teams to run under it's various brands.

I'd love to see an F1 team under the Lamborghini or Bugatti names. Bugatti has some good motorsport history, they even won Le Mans back in 2003.

As long as they find a driver who can recover like this, they'll be fine whatever brand/badge they use.

And yes to the end of the video thats the engine screaming lol, i love it

If your into Formula 1 regardless of team.

Mclaren are just about to release their new car live on FB video link! (not a Mclaren fan but i love the hype pre season!)

We all know who runs all the brands mentioned regardless of there heritage if VW AG do make the call to enter F1 it should stick with a VW team. If they were not a factory team and signed with mclaren with a good driver they would be in the race for sure.

Ahem that was Bentley with victory in 2003. Also Audi basically moved aside and gave them free reign with the whole works operation.
