The 600D. Only slightly dearer than the 550 but has a couple of extra features that make it worth it for me

Dunno what you paid, dude, but shoppingsquare.com.au has the 550D for $459.95 ATM!
I got a 450D almost 4 years ago (around $1100) & it's still a great camera. Use it mainly with a 10-20mm Sigma lens.Current: MY18 TRANSPORTER CrewVan, Indium Grey
