Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Sounds more like a polo GTI competitor in engine specs but is too big and too heavy. Still, kudos to Hyundai for having a go, the genesis v8 they do for the USA is a fair good bit of kit so give this another couple of years to get a decent power revision, then it could be phenomenal

Slower than my 118TSI in Stock mode (8.0 seconds), compared to the ~6.7 seconds in Stage 1 (depending on temperature, etc).
Some say he was the Stig... all we know is that he drives a VW Transporter.

i can see why people would get it - reliability of the kiundais as of late, contemporary designs, and the interior looks trick and loaded with features.

it'll appeal to many people who want something that "looks" sporty, but who've never pressed on enough to find the limits of their car on a deserted b-road.

chassis though.... from what i've read (eg evo magazine) it's just not there yet, so im guessing next gen for serious competitiveness, if not two gens from now.

mind you, that might not be their M.O. at all - let the marketing department sing "sporty sporty sporty" whist they offload shedpiles of cars with beige performance to masses of people who care more about "standout styling" than how the thing actually drives. (my turn to be captain obvious for the day).

I think you just described Toyota and their clientele. If I get stuck behind another Camry Sportivo driver that freaks out at the sight of a slight corner, and I've had a bad day, I may well go kamikaze on their a$$.
