Well im in Australia now and loving the weather.
im in need of a car to go and explore the country,here are what ive got my eyes set on.

MK3 VR6 (budget up to $6000)
MK4 Bora 4-Motion
9N Polo GTI
8L Audi S3
(budget up to $13000)

I have been checking Carsales , Ebay , Trading post & Gumtree every day... is there any other places i should be looking?

It's a 1996 black VR6. All reasonably straight and completely stock. 200,000km. Leather seats (fronts are a bit shabby). All the normal VR6 issues....heater core has been bypassed, air con doesn't work (and I've never investigated why), couple of window regs are shot. I've had it for about 5 years and was my daily till abut 6 weeks ago when I updated to a polo gti. It's been losing water but still goes fine. New headunit, spent over $2k on new clutch around a year ago and NSW rego till may 2012. I'm not at all mechanical so it was just too much for me to sort out. Let me know if you're interested. To be honest, it's been sitting in my driveway since I bought the Polo and I've just been too busy with work to even think about getting it washed and ready to sell. I was hoping to get around $3.5k for it. To be honest, I work 6 days/week and have three kids so I just had no time to devote to it anymore. I've tried to be as honest as I can be.

I am tempted to offer my Bora 4motion for sale. It's a 2001, white, pretty much stock except for minor cosmetic mods and Oettinger wheels, 173,000 kms full service history, had about $8000 spent so far in 2011 on new clutch, flywheel, reconditioned diff, new suspension bushes, new engine mounts. In 2010 it had aircon serviced, rear suspension refreshed.

I don't want to sell it but my situation is changing and it looks like I might need a van or ute for work (which kind of sucks since I just sold my old ute less than a month ago).


I am in Canberra but happy to drive it to Sydney.

IMO, the Polo is cheap for what you get, but unless its atleast been chipped, is pretty boring. The S3's seem to go fairly cheap, have you looked on Ozaudi?
