I find the VW temp guages to be a bit out, especially on hot days. I put it down to what used to happen with turbo mazdas, where the recirc air causes the temp sensor in the air intake to get hotter air than ambient. OUr Mazda 6 temp was bang on, but the MPS 6s were always higher. So I guess it was more 38?

Left work at 6pm with 38 at North Ryde then 39 in Five Dock 20 mins later!

The temp sensor is mounted in the front bumper so it isnt so affected by eng heat as much. I have found it line ball with Business signs w/ temp, my Phone weather widget and even news call outs... so I rate it as reasonably accurate for its purpose.

Tarmac surface temperatures can get very hot on a sunny day. This is the reason for the ~+2 to 3 degC positive deviation in the readings.

Taken today in traffic in the Sydney Eastern Distributor. The car was responsible for some of that heat.

hooba why does your MFD read 33km/h but your gauge reads more than 40?

and why are you listening to nova?

I am fairly sure that symbol next to the 33km on the MFD is the average speed. Mine seems to sit in the 30's as well..

My question is how the hell did you reach the 50's! the most i have seen on any of my cars is 46c and that was a horrible day.

That there would be a Gallardo instrument cluster, would it not?

And you have one as your daily?

I find sorry for you that your car has a speedo capable of 340, yet you're stuck in traffic averaging 33....

After what happened yesterday and then seeing this thread, I thought I'd just post the the pic and quietly hope that nobody would notice the car.

You couldn't hear the radio over all the snap, crackle, and pop coming from the engine, great fun in tunnels. Not my daily (not sure anyone could drive one of those as a daily), but it was a good fun to drive. 2011 Balboni 550 2 (if you think you need AWD in a Golf R, then this will give you something to think about)

My old mini would have been a better weapon in yesterday's traffic, it's easier to tell exactly how fast you're going using a Rover Cooper dash with a 998 A+.

You should have known you'd get caught out We'll forgive the inaccurate temp gauge then, who cares if you're driving that beastie.
