I haven't seen one in the flesh, but the Wheels mag October preview sounded promising and looked good in the pics. I looked at the spec levels and I reckon with all the fruit I have on the R, I wouldn't walk away with much change from $90K! However I like the idea of a good looking softroader with some performance and handling and that the Evoque can allegedly drive in 500mm of water sounds good too, but I'd miss the chuckability of a smaller car after a few weeks of owning one of these.

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

i do believe that, as a fashion item, we will be seeing plenty down at your nearest coffee shop, real estate agent or private school car park. It will become the new BMW 3 series.....
Not that it would ACTUALLY put me off buying one, but given the demographic it will likely attract......Current ride: 2014 Range Rover Evoque 5 Door TD4 Pure | 9 Spd Auto | Fuji White | Black Leather | 19 inch 'Dynamic' Wheels
Previous rides: MY11.5 Golf GTI 5 door | DSG | Candy White | 18' Detriots | Bluetooth | K&N Air Filter | Dancing Dials (Oh Yeah!)
| 1989 Porsche 944S2 Coupe| Guards Red| Leather| Sunroof| LSD

my mum is looking for a new car...she would almost definitely be buying one of these, but land rover/range rover isnt on the radar for her any more....
not with how horrifically unreliable they have become. i guess that's the beauty of forums - gone are the days of blindly walking into something.

What (or whose) engine are they using? That would be big a factor in considering one for me. If it's an in-house jobbie, I would be a tad concerned.
