Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Hey guys wasn't too sure where to post this so please move it to the correct area mods.

So I'm thinking about buying a car from Queensland and was wondering if I would be likely to have many problems registering it in NSW, thanks in advance guys.

if it is like Vic, you need proof of sale (if hand written it needs to be signed by the previous owner, and include the engine and vin numbers), a current road worthy certificate, ID and you are good to go. You will need to book in not just turn up.

In NSW, the first thing to do is get a Blue Slip on the car, this is a more intense version of a roadworthy (Pink slip) certificate. It's a good thing to have, you'll know if there are any problems that way.... Could end up being expensive depending on what it could fail on. If i were you i'd take it down to Mark Hammond on Ada Avenue in Brookvale, he'll sort it for you. Once you've got that, then you need your Insurance (Green Slip) and off to the RTA you go. Make sure you've got a receipt for the purchase with how much you paid for it, you'll then pay tax/gst on the value of the car, then a years rego and new plates. That's it in a nutshell, not too much hassle, just need money

I done it with car i got from SA.

I bought my car in NSW and registered it in Qld without a problem. You just need the relevant paperwork.
