The problem is that they seem to think that they have to damage cars. That and they MUST have a comediam, no matter how bad.

If they do re-launch it, then they need to keep in mind what the program actually is about. It is not about damaging cars, or making jokes you hear behind the bike sheds, or about getting guests who are just as bad and simply make things worse. No wonder advertisers want to stay away and car companies do not want to provide vehicles for review. I mean, given the way they treat the cars, can you imagine any of the major car companies offering anything for review?

      My thoughts exactly.

I think the Australian enthusiast could've written better scripts.

The show was just plain embarrassing, I doubt that Shane Jacobson and Ewen Page can be described as car enthusiasts, just nothing on the show worked and the so-called stars in the ford ute, was just too poor for words.

I was surprised with the humbled US Top Gear, I wish we'd done something like that, and tried to build it from there. It just felt artificial, as much as I wanted a local Top Gear, it was tacky. I'd like to see another crack at it, but not as forced. TG UK seems to balance the pretentious with the bogan extremes of the car and entertainment world quite well.

                  Good.

I do hope that comercial television station looses the rights (wrongs) to the show in any form.
I used to like watching it on SBS but just can't be bothered now.
I do sort of like watching the offerings on C31 (melb) such as streetrods or the drag racing (I can't remember the names of the shows) they are very much backyard productions, but have people who are interesed in their sport/hoby/busines/car, unlike TGA.
                  TGIG (thank god its gone)

You should check it out man. It's a great show. A few episodes have been average, but then that also happens on TGUK. But TGUS has it's own style and the presenters are a good mix imo.

I found it hard to watch.
Especially 'We'll be back after the break.' NO DAMMIT! NO BREAKS!
Cloning a show doesn't work. But the same could be said for having its own style (Kath & Kim US, Red Dwarf US etc.)

Apart from the interviews they did, there was no real status for the hosts either.
I got that they had a fat guy, some other guy that's not really memorable and then a pro (rally?) driver. I'd like the Professional driver to do another car show. Shane and the other one can go..

I remember one episode where they decided to review what is better: HSV V8 Vs. FPV Turbo6
                      So what do they do?
They sat on the fence. Take a stance pee pants! Make a review about a car and stick with half the country hating you. JEEZ!

Have they actually reviewed a single car properly?
Or has it already been done by UK?

I bet you all sat there like me thinking "I could host this show better than these pathetic fake muppets"!!!

I could probably even drive the cars without damaging them...

                            True Lol
The producers need to be kicked up the bum, the script was trying way to hard and none of the guys pulled off the act at all. You cant replicate Clarkson (muppet but good value at times), May and Hammond.. so they shouldnt have tried, I mean at the end of the day we are motoring enthusiasts not B grade soap opera fans!!

Let's face it, anything that involves Channel 9 is sooner or later consigned to the graveyard slot or is destined to get axed. Makes me wonder why they wrested it from SBS in the first place.
