Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Not much to say. Silhouette reminds me of a Mazda 3.
    Past: Mk3 Golf 2L 8V, Audi 8L A3T.
    Present: Mk3 Golf variant.

Let's just hope it looks nothing like the Mk6 or 6R Polo...

oh ufck...... cue another 1475 posts pertaining to "how can i put the top spec variant's LED DRL's / tail lights on on my variant?"

30mm longer. 28mm wider. 57kgs heavier, not that it will matter because it'll have 11kw more and the triple auto gearbox will be able to shift in .00476 secs in silence. it'll have typical VAG understeer but electric assistance will be so great that you wont notice. steering feel and feedback will be next to non existent in the "sport" models, which is just as well, because you wouldnt want the displeasure of driving your automatic, no-steering-feedback, "left foot braking cannot be performed in these cars unless you have a death wish" hot hatch, to interfere with your ability to use your voice recognition "i dont know where the f'ck im going even though im within 30 minutes of the house i've lived in for the last half decade" sat nav, your blaupunkt surround sound dvd 17 speaker entertainment suite, your top of the line web enabled nanotechnologically enhanced long range communications array, your automatic, super intelligent rain sensing wipers (just incase you've fallen asleep from the super comfy, 21 mode heated massage seats), or your automatic reverse parking assist "i dont have a f'king clue how to park a hatchback, so not only will the car do my parking for me, it will also show me, on the surround sound entertainment screen, just how to do that which i have no clue how to do" system.

^^^ those mod-cons will attract people, so it doesnt really matter what it looks like (except for if you're thinking of changing your stock tails to some aftermarket LED ones...)

some sick mods and upgrades cant wait to see what it'll look like once the design is fully finished and polished. I wonder whats will come as standard and what options will be avail. as yet again if all those fancy bits that have been mentioned in Buller_Scott post are extras then i'm not sure how keen i would be to pay extra for them.

Nope. It's a still from a VW promo video released 12 or so months back. General consensus is that it's an oops preview of the Mk7, or at least a version thereof. Probably still early enough that it could change from that model.

And, agreed with the Denvers. They were horrible in 2004, it's bordering on criminal that they're still around!
