Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Thread moved in Golf Mk VI Forum.

I posted a thread on our Friend's new Golf Mk VI she picked up today. Tonight I see it has been moved to the picture thread. WTF.

Moderators with too much time on their hands??

Was it offensive? I don't know, they don't have the common courtesy to tell me when they do it and why.

No wonder this Forum is going down hill.

Maybe it was just more suited for the picture thread?

    Chill.

      Maris,

Sorry that this has annoyed you, but the thread has been moved into a more appropriate area as far as i can see. They are, after all, pics of a Mk6 Golf.

Sorry that you were not told, but your thread is still there, with a re-direct to where it's been moved, so, self-explanatory really? Nothing offensive about it, and nothing for you to be offended about.

I don't think forum is not going downhill, i think it's actually getting a lot better!

      Matt.

Well, you could just ask the moderators in MK6 section. But IMO, it was rightly moved to the picture thread (that's why the picture threads exist across the forums).

          Hi Maris,

It was I who merged your thread with the pictures thread. As, Matt said, I left a redirect so you could find your way back.
It was either merge it with the pictures thread or the The Official "I have ordered/received my new MKVI" thread, but I put it in with the pictures because they were good pictures and the post was more focused around them than a written experience.

Whilst it might be fine for people who join up to the MK1 to MK4 areas to start a new thread with the car they've just got, especially if they're going to start doing things to it, in the MK6 forum it used to be a problem. It got to the point where we were consistently getting 5 to 10 of these "I've just ordered x", or "look what I just got" etc a day. So the "I've ordered/received", "How to track", and "Pictures" threads were created so that these types of posts could be grouped together without clogging up the forum.

This was implemented before I was a moderator.

The MK6 Golf sales were 3275 in June alone. Between mostly the MK6 Golf, the 6R Polo and the Tiguan, VW have sold 23,933 cars year to date. With those numbers, even if only a few % joined this forum, I hope you can understand why we can't have individual threads per person.

To facilitate people finding their way, I've created the MK6 Index thread and Transporter has done the same in the Tiguan forum.

As for not PM'ing you, I would not typically PM someone on a merge, as there is a redirect left, and quite frankly there is just too much mod work these days to PM someone for every action taken. I do PM people when a thread is deleted though, along with an explanation why.

Sorry if merging your thread upset you. If you can think of a some suggestions for a better way to manage the forum - feel free.
          Cheers.

Thank you 3 for your replies.

I will delete it from the picture thread and put it in "A Photo Gallery of our Rides", which is far more appropriate than where it was put.
