  • PPQ new euro plates prices

Was checking ppq today as have been contemplating getting euro plates for the last few months. Noticed that they've increased the euro plates prices from $595 to $645! Damn it. The other plates seem to be the same price still though.

Had a chat with my mate who got his euro plates in 08 and apparently he only paid 300+ for them. Price has doubled in 3 years. That's crap.

Actually the whole issue of personalised number plates and number plate styles is a scam. It is not as though it is a truly open market. The price is set, and if there is no demand for them, they will not reduce the price. They also withhold particular combinations of letters and numbers knowing that they "might" be requested as personalised plates that will bring in large amounts pf cash.

I was lucky enough to have got my personalised number plates way back in 1979 where they cost just $35, and then I got them re-made as bicentennial plates in 1988 for a further $50. Much as I like personalised plates, there is noway I would get them now.

One issue I have is that I might have to relocate to Victoria. Fortunately I can get the plates held for 5 years.

the price of 595 was set in 2007 when i got mine. it did go up recently probably due to demand as well as the other euro styles now out.

I had bicentennial plates for mine, though I inherited my plates from my grandfather. Unfortunately they didn't fit a previous car and had to be changed for smaller plates. One did "fall off" the car before they were handed in to be replaced, though.
