Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

The addresses for the photos that you're trying to post look like this:
          http : //www . flickr.com/photos/62650377@N02/5799372766/in/photostream/ (without the spaces).

That's the address for the web page that flickr shows you the photo on, but not the address for the photo itself.
You need to grab the link directly to the photo file, which will end in .jpg etc.

According to Flickr's FAQ, they have purposely removed the direct links because they want users to access the flickr website rather than directly link the pictures:
The direct link to a photo file is no longer shown on the page. Per the Flickr Community Guidelines "pages on other websites that display content hosted on flickr.com must provide a link from each photo or video back to its page on Flickr." Linking directly to the photo file doesn't do this.
So maybe you're better of using a photo service which does allow direct linking....

Having said that. If I use the link to your photo above (without the spaces), then rightclick on the photo and select "Large" from the "View in all sizes" option, and then right click on the photo it shows there, I'm then able to select "copy image location" (firefox) or "properties" and then copy the address (internet explorer).

That gives me the address of:
          http : // farm4.static.flickr.com/3614/5799372766_153c3d647a_b.jpg

You can then use the "Image" button in the forums to post the image:

If you quote my post, you'll see the line above and how the "Image tags" and the address I supplied should look.

            I use the host "ImageShack".

            1. Open ImageShack.
            2. Use the browse button to find your pic on your computer.
            3. Then click "Host It".
            4. Wait for pic to up load.
            5. Highlight the link "Hot link for forums 1" with a left click.
            6. Right click on the highlight link, select “Copy”.
            7. Paste this link to your post.

            Works for me every time.
