Opposed piston engines are nothing new (Commer, Napier etc,) There are three potential problems I can see with the OPOC.
1. This is a skinny but very long engine. It will need to be packaged differently in a vehicle.
2. Very long connecting rods to the outer pistons with potential for whip and harmonic vibration.
3. As a piston port engine, intake and exhaust timing is fixed.
