Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Master cylinder plumbing

Just a quick question, when changing over from the original master cylinder (the 5 port ones) to the ones from the seat cordoba (the 4 port ones see pic below) does it matter what way I connect the brake lines.

For example, do the rear brake lines need to be connected to the back holes and the front lines on the front. Or can I just connect them how ever I feel like it?

This is the seat cordoba master cylinder with two holes (image there being 4 )

    Should be diagonally split.

Front left and rear right off the same port.

Front right and rear left off the other.

      hmmm I think I understand.

Just to elaborate, so for the front calipers, their brake lines will connect to the Front Right and Rear Left.

And for the rear calipers, their brake lines will connect to the Front Left and Rear Right.

      Is that correct?

Yea thats a good diagram but my MC has 4 (four) connection holes for me to connect the brake lines too. If I go with that diagram that means I have to seal off 2 (two) of the 4 (four) connection holes leaving me with 2 (two) connection holes therefore allowing me to go with that diagram.

Is that what you are suggesting??

That'll do it. I just couldn't be bothered typing. Both pictures are hydraulically the same, it's just the t peice is 'internal' on a 4 port cylinder.
